From my school days, I knew I would become a doctor because this profession seemed very meaningful to me. The human body is a perfect and mysterious creation of Nature or God. Studying medicine, everything became clearer with each passing year, and I thought, “I understand everything – just let me treat.” After all, it seemed so simple: listen to the patient’s complaints, conduct an examination, order tests, get answers, and prescribe medication. And THE PATIENT GETS BETTER! It’s like mathematics – two plus two will always be four.

But, when everyday work began, it became clear that not all tests reveal diseases, not all medications that were supposed to help produce results, and that one illness reoccurs for some patients while never appearing for others… I realized that health equations often have many unknowns. There were also patients whose complaints could not be explained by any laboratory or instrumental tests. After numerous consultations, they would return to their family doctor. And the cycle would start all over again…

For over 20 years, I have worked as a family physician. I care for people of all ages – from newborns to the elderly. I learned not to make decisions for patients but to work with them: to explain why and what I propose to do, to help them understand the “jungle of medicine,” and to find the best solutions for their health. But in traditional medicine, it’s not always possible to identify and eliminate the cause of the disease, so sometimes we can only alleviate the symptoms it causes. And sometimes, unfortunately, even that doesn’t work. Something different was needed.

I first heard about endobiogeny back in 2015 when Dr. Jean-Claude Lapraz’s and journalist Marie-Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre’s book “Endobiogeny. Personalized Medicine” was presented in Vilnius. I was invited to the presentation by a young colleague, Yulija, who later became one of my teachers, helping me understand the intricate twists and turns of our endocrine and nervous systems, and the remarkable ability of the human body to “adapt” to maintain the status quo for as long as possible.

Studying endobiogeny brought more and more clarity and understanding, such as how thyroid hormones are responsible for breast cysts or why some people get sick every autumn. And along with it, there was hope that I had another excellent and knowledgeable tool – plants that can help prevent the onset or recurrence of diseases, alleviate the symptoms of illness or the side effects of chemical drugs, or simply feel better.
